I have found that in order for life to have meaning there are certain things we have to actually mean. Things we cannot fake, things we cannot pretend, or imagine, or even hope. Things that must be as true in an instant as they are in an eternity. Things that do not fade with time or fashion. Things that do not grow or wilt with culture or opinion. Things that are not changed with passions, swelled by affection or tarnished by hate. Things as valued in hardship as in prosperity. Things that, weighed in pleasure, do not change their weight in pain.
